At Mentis Care we offer evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. This therapeutic approach helps you to understand why you may be feeling the way you are and learning how to manage your thoughts, behaviours and emotions. This may mean just focusing on your present symptoms and how to manage them, or understanding life experiences to see how you've been shaped to the person you are today. The ultimate aim is to alleviate the difficult emotions and enable you to have a better understanding of who you are and be able to tackle the day-to-day challenges we experience in life.
We use a person-centred and collaboritive approach drawing on not only Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy but also utilising skills in: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on accepting and making room for difficult thoughts and feelings, focusing on our values and what is important to us, and committing to making changes; Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) which helps to enhance our ability to feel and act in a more caring and positive manner towards ourselves and the people around us; and Mindfulness which helps us to be present in the here and now, becoming aware and noticing our feelings and reactions and accepting what has happened, has happened.
